Staying calm when you move or sell during the holidays
Plan breaks, keep showings simple, write down your key dates, ask for help, and keep one tradition for yourself. Many people move between Christmas and New Year, and it can be calm with a plan.
Why do people move during the holidays?
Many people have time off between Christmas and New Year. Children can start at a new school in January. And many people come to Florida to get away from the snow.
Five ways to stay calm
- Write down your key dates: inspection, appraisal, closing, and the moving truck.
- Keep showings easy: simple decorations, a clean home, and a short list for the last 10 minutes before a showing.
- Schedule breaks. Even 15 minutes. Walk, breathe, or call someone you love.
- Ask for help: family, friends, movers. You do not have to do it alone.
- Keep one tradition for yourself. Moving boxes can wait one night.
Should I take my home off the market for the holidays?
Not always. Buyers who look in December are usually serious. Let's look at your plan together.
Then and now
In 2019 I shared holiday tips for small business owners. This time the tips are for my clients who are moving or selling.
Questions people ask
Is December a good time to sell?
Buyers who shop in December are often serious. Fewer homes compete for them.
Can I close on a home in December?
Yes. Plan early, because offices close on some holidays.
Happy holidays. I'm happy to help you. Just let me know.
