Moving with the school year: timing your move in Florida

QUICK ANSWER

The busiest times to move in Florida are summer and winter. Summer lets children start the school year in the new home. Winter break works too. Start looking two to four months before the date you want to move.

When do most people move to Florida?

People move to Florida from all over the country, all year. The busiest times are summer and winter.

Why plan around the school year?

When school starts again, we all go back to a routine, children and parents. A move before school starts, or during winter break, keeps the year calm.

How early should I start?

  1. Four months before: talk with a lender and know your budget.
  2. Three months before: make your list of needs and wants. Bigger or smaller? A pool? Fruit trees?
  3. Two months before: look at homes and make your offer.
  4. Moving month: closing, keys, and the moving truck.

What if I am moving out of state?

I know Realtors I trust all over the country and the world. In 2017 I helped a young man buy his first home in California through my network. I can connect you too.

Then and now

I wrote "Just on time" in August 2017, when the school year started. Everything in life comes just on time, when we are ready for it.
